TransRe (Transatlantic Reinsurance Company) is a leading global property and casualty reinsurer, operating across more than 20 countries with approximately $5.9 billion in annual premiums and an AA+ financial strength rating. A wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, TransRe is recognised for its underwriting expertise and market insight across sectors including aviation, cyber, health, and liability.

The Challenge

TransRe wanted to strengthen their thought leadership in renewable energy - covering solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and geothermal - while simultaneously building a pipeline of emerging research talent for future full-time hires. Although they had an internal research team, they needed fresh perspectives and specialist knowledge that traditional hiring methods were too slow and rigid to provide.

The Solution

TransRe partnered with Vaultt to build a bespoke team of talent specifically matched to the project's requirements. We selected a carefully curated group of researchers from UK universities, pairing them with a graphic designer to produce research reports that were as visually engaging as they were analytically rigorous.

  • Specialist Research - PhD Researchers with relevant academic expertise took a deep dive into renewable energy sectors, producing findings that added genuine value to TransRe's internal stakeholders.

  • Publication-Ready Output - Each report was detailed, data-backed, and professionally designed - exceeding 30 pages and built to the standard of TransRe's thought leadership programme.

  • Talent Pipeline - The engagement gave TransRe a live assessment of each student's capability, creating a natural pathway to identify candidates for future full-time roles.

The Result

TransRe published a comprehensive renewable energy research report - and the quality of the output led directly to a second commissioned report, this time focused in depth on solar energy. The collaboration delivered on two fronts: meaningful thought leadership content for the business, and a proven model for identifying and nurturing the next generation of research talent.
